Kenneth Lester Malamud, M.D., completed an Internship and Ophthalmology Residency at the Interfaith Hospital in New York City, and the Ochsner Foundation Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.  In 1979, as part of his Residency in Ophthalmology, he helped open the Department of Ophthalmology at the South Louisiana Medical Center in Houma, Louisiana.  He completed his residency training at Ochsner Foundation in 1981, married his wife, Paulette, and moved with his family to Georgetown, Texas, to open the San Gabriel Eye Center.

The San Gabriel Eye Center became a premier practice, with several Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Certified Ophthalmic Assistants, Certified Opticians, and clerical and ancillary staff.  Between 1981 and 2002, Dr. Malamud served on the staff at Georgetown Hospital, and while there, he served as Chief of Ophthalmology, as well as Chief of Surgery, President of the Medical Staff, and Chief of the Laser Surgery Committee. From 1984 to 2002, Dr. Malamud also practiced at a satellite office in Burnet, Texas, and served on the staff of the Highland Lakes Medical Center (now Seton Highland Lakes) in Burnet.  During his many years in practice, he has performed thousands of ophthalmic surgeries and procedures, including Cataract and Laser surgeries.

In 2009, Dr. Malamud and his wife opened the Center for Health and Vision in Burnet, Texas, where he provides complete eye care for the family, integrating traditional ophthalmic practices with the added benefits of Holistic and Alternative eye care.  He treats medical conditions such as Glaucoma, Diabetic conditions of the eye, Macular Degeneration, Allergic Eye conditions and Dry Eye Syndrome, with an emphasis on Patient-Centered care.  He counsels patients on the best choices available to them, which can include prescription medications and eye drops, eyewear, dietary or lifestyle changes, and vitamin/nutritional supplements for their particular condition.  Dr. Malamud and his wife, Paulette Malamud, R.N., have 2 sons.  Kurt lives in Louisiana; Ryan lives in Marble Falls with his wife, Rachel, and is the chef/proprietor of Brothers Bakery in Marble Falls.

 Paulette L. Malamud, R.N.

Paulette LeCompte Malamud, R.N., received her nursing degree from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana in 1979.  She met her husband, Dr. Kenneth Malamud, when he was a resident in Ophthalmology at South Louisiana Medical Center in Houma, Louisiana.  They married and moved with their family to Georgetown, Texas, to open the San Gabriel Eye Center in 1981.  Paulette worked in all aspects of Dr. Malamud’s practice, including office administrator, surgical assistant, and performing direct patient care, as the practice grew into the premier Eye Care Center in Georgetown, with a satellite office in Burnet, Texas.

Paulette and Dr. Malamud moved to Burnet full-time in 2000, and together, they have pursued their interest in learning and practicing Holistic Eye Care. Paulette has a special interest in the effects that diet, exercise and vitamin supplements have on the body, particularly the eyes; she has worked extensively with patients to explain the benefits of taking care of themselves and their eyes, and what they can do to improve in these areas. In 2009, she worked with Dr. Malamud to open the Center for Health and Vision in Burnet, Texas.
